A new milestone in the world of freediving has been achieved as Ming (William Joy) Jin from China set a breathtaking world record in the discipline of Dynamic with Monofin. On 25th of August 2024, Joy managed to cover an astonishing distance of 307 meters underwater, all on a single breath.

This extraordinary feat took place during the AIDA 2024 ASIAN POOL CHAMPIONSHIP and has been officially sanctioned by AIDA International. Official recognition of the result as WORLD RECORD, is pending doping test result.  The discipline of Dynamic with Monofin, which requires athletes to swim horizontally underwater with the use of a single fin, is known for its demanding physical and mental challenges. Joy’s record-breaking performance has set a new standard in the sport, surpassing the previous record by Guillaume Bourdila, France by 6 meters.

William Joy, already a prominent figure in the freediving community, has been training rigorously for this attempt.
