Following the Assembly vote from the 22nd of March 2017, the following changes will be made to the AIDA Competition Rules and the Judge International Procedures and Operations: 

 

Update 1

Purpose:  For Aida International to assume the ownership of the video rights to be able to promote AIDA and freediving

NEW rule: 5.2.8 (Tech Doc) All official video images of the attempt become the property of Aida International. Aida International has exclusive rights to the official video

 

 

Update 2:

Purpose: allow WRs validation the Pool World Championships where the Managing judges may be on a different lane

NEW addition 3.4.1.1.1 Exception for AIDA Pool World Championships: any member of the elected jury may judge a world record performance. It is not necessary for a WR status judge to be judging that specific lane in which the record occurred. 

 

Update 3

Purpose: Clearly ban the use of a personal floatation device, or the safety kickboard in pool disciplines, to assist the athlete after surfacing.

 

NEW 3.1.16  The use of a personal flotation device (or the safety kickboard in pool) is allowed in all disciplines, but use of such devices to assist the athlete after surfacing will result in disqualification. The Jury, can however, prohibit a float if it could hinder judging, safety and/or video. 

 

Update 4

Purpose: To change and simplify the existing rule regarding ‘touch’ ; therefore an accidental , non-supporting ,or non-helpful touch by anyone will not result in a disqualification.

NEW rule: 3.1.15 During the performance, the athlete cannot touch anyone or be helped or touched by anyone . The following exceptions apply:

• unintentional and non-supportive, non- helpful, touch
• touch by coach or safety freediver for repositioning and safety checks during STA (5.2.3 and 5.2.8).
  
  

 

Judge IOP updates:

 

Judge Level E:

• Successful completion AIDA judge course;
• 18+ years
• 1 Competition as competitor;
• Member of AIDA National

 

Judge Level D:

D Depth division:

• Minimum of 100 points total (depth, pool, CEC)
• Minimum of 50 depth points
• Minimum 2 depth competitions;
• Recommendation by Judge responsible and approval by the Board;
• Recommended, but not required: certifications BLS and CPR;
• Recommended, but not required: Basic Scuba or PADI Open water or equivalent;

 

D Pool division:

• Minimum of 100 points total (pool, depth, CEC)
• Minimum of 50 pool points
• Minimum 2 pool competitions;
• Recommendation by Judge responsible and approval by the Board;
• Recommended, but not required: certifications BLS and CPR;
• Recommended, but not required: Basic Scuba or PADI Open water or equivalent;

 

Judge Level C:

C Depth division:

• Minimum of 150 points total (depth, pool, CEC)
• Minimum of 100 depth points
• Minimum 4 depth competitions;
• Main judge or assistant judge at WC (depth) / WRA (depth) plus one more judge or assistant judge on WC/WRA (can be pool)
• 1 CEC participation;
• Recommendation by Judge responsible and approval by the Board;
• Recommended, but not required: certifications BLS and CPR;
• Recommended, but not required: Basic Scuba or PADI Open water or equivalent;

 

C Pool division:

• Minimum of 150 points total ( pool , depth, CEC)
• Minimum of 100 pool points
• Minimum 4 pool competitions;
• Main judge or assistant judge at WC (pool) / WRA (pool) plus one more judge
• or assistant judge on WC/WRA (can be depth)
• 1 CEC participation;
• Recommendation by Judge responsible and approval by the Board;
• Recommended, but not required: certifications BLS and CPR;
• Recommended, but not required: Basic Scuba or PADI Open water or equivalent;

 

Judge Level B:

B Depth division:

• Minimum of 300 points total (depth, pool, CEC)
• Minimum of 150 depth points
• Minimum 6 depth competition;
• 2xMain judge or assistant judge at WC (depth) / WRA(depth) plus one more
• judge or assistant judge on WC/WRA (can be pool)
• 1 judge course intern
• 2 CEC participation ( 1 giving a course, teaching);
• Recommendation by Judge responsible and approval by the Board;
• Recommended, but not required: certifications BLS and CPR;
• Recommended, but not required: Basic Scuba or PADI Open water or equivalent;

 

B Pool division:

• Minimum of 300 points total (pool, depth, CEC)
• Minimum of 150 pool points
• Minimum 6 pool competition;
• 2xMain judge or assistant judge at WC (pool) / WRA(pool) plus one more
• judge or assistant judge on WC/WRA (can be depth)
• 1 judge course intern;
• 2 CEC participation (1 giving a course, teaching);
• Recommendation by Judge responsible and approval by the Board;
• Recommended, but not required: certifications BLS and CPR;
• Recommended, but not required: Basic Scuba or PADI Open water or equivalent;

 

Judge Level AI:

• Minimum of 500 points total;
• Minimum of 250 depth points;
• Minimum of 250 pool points;
• Minimum 10 competitions;
• 3xMain judge or assistant judge at WC/ WRA plus 2x judge or assistant judge
• on WC/WRA (opposite)
• 2 judge course intern
• 3 CEC participation ( 2x giving a course, teaching);
• Required: certifications BLS and CPR;
• Recommendation by Judge responsible and approval by the Board;
• Recommended, but not required: Nitrox, Oxygen providers, Basic Scuba, or
• PADI Open water or equivalent;

 

The Board has the right to propose a judge B level for promotion to AI level when the judge has additional experience as organizer for major events or WC, is a safety with great experience, competitor with experience and excellent results, etc. Final decision of promotion on Board proposal will be taken through Assembly vote.
